The Ghost That Got Away

This week I chose to post an Essay I wrote many years ago about a past abusive relationship. I am posting sections of the book I started writing in the future but still editing them so I thought this would be nice in the mean time. WELCOME TO MTJPE!

https://morethanjustapeachemoji.com/2020/10/01/welcome-to-mtjpe/

Welcome to More Than Just a Peach Emoji! A couple years ago, I started to write a book called (you guessed it!) More Than Just A Peach Emoji! Between my unmatched levels of procrastination and my intense FEAR of being open, honest & vulnerable with a mystery audience (the epicenter to my PTSD), I decided that the most accessible way for my overthinking brain to get my thoughts and words out would be through a blog. What this blog is made of are the things that are important to me. From self-care to advocating for issues significant to me, you will find things like cooking tips/recipes, beauty & health (mostly skincare and homeopathic ways of healing), fitness & dieting with the end goal of FEELING and looking good, personal stories of the path that led to my journey with sobriety, and advocating for the sober community/removing the stigma that is associated with recovery, geared towards those who are ashamed of their recovery because of long-held ideas of what recovery means, & also for those who do not need recovery, but have a preconceived definition of what recovery is. No shame here either—I used to have my own opinions on what recovery from addiction was all about, too! POINT IS… this blog is geared for everyone, it promotes healthy living, new ideas, and comes from a place of love (aka my heart guys, my heart). One might ask: what in the hell does all that have to do with being more than just a peach emoji? Good question, and there is an answer that will reveal itself in time (I feel like I should end this first blog right now with XOXO, gossip girl, lol)… no, on a serious note, this is why I chose to do a blog rather than a book. Best answer I can give right now is, there’s fear in being vulnerable in this weird cyber-world filled with keyboard warriors, cyber bullies, and just generally, people who are filled with hate. I know what it feels like to be bullied & judged & to not like yourself—hate yourself—when you are judged by people who don’t know you! Some feel free on these incognito platforms to judge someone through hateful words or simply an sum a person up by an emoji. A person can be more than just a peach emoji…
